In many Christians' minds, the debate over women's roles in church leadership and the debate over the definition of Christian marriage are closely linked. Some people who hold the historically Christian view of marriage worry that affirming women as pastors and elders will be a "slippery slope" towards affirming same-sex marriage. Others, who long to see churches take a more progressive posture, might celebrate women's ordination as a logical first step toward same-sex marriage. How closely linked should these two theological questions be in theory—and how closely linked have they proven to be in practice? In this webinar, we'll hear a dialogue between Michelle Lee-Barnewall (author of Neither Complementarian Nor Egalitarian) and Preston Sprinkle (author of a forthcoming book on the same topic). Without focusing on their own convictions around women's roles in church ministry, Michelle and Preston will reflect together on the connections and distinctions between these two important topics.
